Bollywood Actress Riya Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik have moved the Special Court under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after the bail plea was rejected by the Magistrate Court.

All of them had applied for bail but the case was adjourned till today (Thursday). In her bail plea, Riya said that she is innocent and has been falsely implicated in the case. It further claims that Riya was compelled to accept her own indictment and in the September 8 application, the applicant rejected all those indictments.
During the hearing of Riya’s bail plea, the court did not accept the bail plea of the actress after the prosecution objected and argued its jurisdiction in the Magistrate Court. Riya was arrested on Tuesday after three days of questioning from 6 September to 8 September on behalf of all levels of NCB officials.
Riya alleged in the bail application the agency’s failure to follow the guidelines of the Supreme Court, stating, “There was not a single female officer who, according to law, interrogates the current applicant. The Supreme Court had said in Sheela Burse vs Maharashtra case that the inquiry should be conducted only in the presence of a woman police officer or constable.”
Both brothers and sisters have been booked under Section 27 of the NDPS Act, which provides for penalties for spending illegal traffic money and punishing criminals. According to the provisions, if they are found guilty, both can be imprisoned for ten years and a fine of up to Rs 2 lakh. He is accused of allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput.
Riya’s lawyer Satish Manashinde moved the special court after the bail plea was rejected. This petition is scheduled to be heard on Thursday, where the investigating agency will have to give its reply in the special court.
